Freiburg, September 28, 2025
On September 27 and 28, the German Surfing Association (DWV) hosted the 6th German Rapid Surfing Championship, presented by MINI, in Freiburg. More than 70 athletes showcased their skills at Irie Surf, competing for the national rapid surfing titles – broadcast live via stream and podcast. For two full days, thrilling contests, spectacular tricks, and urban surf vibes captivated fans both on-site and online.

The finals on Sunday drew over a thousand spectators, while many more tuned in via livestream. A highlight of the event came from Maximilian Lex, who made German rapid surfing history by landing the first-ever Kerrupt Flip in a competition, electrifying the crowd.

The venue, Irie Surf, is a brand-new surf location with a standing wave that offers ideal conditions for both beginners and experienced surfers. Beyond the competition, a live podcast, community activations, and the unique urban atmosphere made for a one-of-a-kind event – transforming Freiburg into the hotspot of the German rapid surfing scene.

A special thanks goes to the sponsors MINI, O2, Pure Surfcamps, and Dryrobe, whose support made this event possible.
