The 7th German Rapid Surfing Championships Set to Make Historic Debut at "Die Finals 2026" in Hanover

From July 24th to 26th, 2026, Germany's elite surfers will battle for the official national titles across Junior Boys & Girls, Open Women & Men, and Master Women & Men categories. High-octane heats are guaranteed as rapid surfing makes its first-ever appearance at "Die Finals"—the prestigious multi-sport event hosted on Hanover’s Leinewelle.

Hanover, July 15, 2026 – A massive stage for one of the world's most dynamic action sports: As Germany's finest athletes gather in Hanover for "Die Finals 2026" from July 24th to 26th, rapid surfing is celebrating a historic milestone. For the very first time, the German Rapid Surfing Championships are an official part of this renowned multi-sport event. Host organization German Surfing Federation (DWV) is bringing the absolute crème de la crème of the national surf scene right into the heart of Lower Saxony's capital.

Rapid Surfing vs. Ocean Surfing: Non-Stop Action and Ultimate Equality
What sets rapid surfing apart from the ocean? While ocean surfers often spend hours paddling and waiting for the perfect set, rapid surfing takes place on a "standing wave" in rivers or artificial pools. A controlled, powerful current rushes over a ramp or natural obstacle, creating a stationary wave that never stops. For the competition, this means zero waiting time, maximum trick frequency, and absolute fairness—the wave delivers identical conditions for every single competitor.

The Favorites: An Unpredictable Showdown
The weekend promises pure suspense. While the starting grid is packed with top-tier stars, the Leinewelle presents a highly challenging, relatively small, and soft wave. Without a clear home-turf advantage, the leaderboard is completely wide open. It is a true test of adaptability, and anyone could take the crown.
