For the very first time, renowned rapid surf coach Jeroen Kuijer visited Rheinriff, delivering an intensive and inspiring coaching weekend. The training was structured into four groups of six surfers each, allowing for a focused and hands-on coaching experience.
Jeroen Kuijer is a key figure in the Swiss surf scene. He is part of the Swiss Surfing federation, where he serves as Head of Foundation, responsible for the organization’s development and funding activities. In addition, he is the President and Head Coach of the Swiss Wave Rippers, a club based in Central Switzerland dedicated entirely to the progression of rapid surfing. In this role, he plays a leading part in designing and evolving training methods, as well as in the education and development of surf coaches.
His coaching philosophy is built on four core principles:
-
Surfing with clean and versatile technique,
-
Avoiding unnecessary movements,
-
Understanding the triggers for maneuvers, and
-
Training with purpose — not just surfing.
The session at Rheinriff was open to surfers of all levels, and every participant made noticeable progress on their individual skills. The energy was high, the stoke was real, and everyone left with a clear idea of what to work on in the coming weeks.
The next coaching session with Jeroen is already planned for December 12–14, with the goal of establishing a regular, structured training program at Rheinriff.
